1. VERSES 10 – 11: The BOOK OF REVELATION is the heavenly narrative of things which ARE and things to COME, and the Lord “… SENT and SIGNIFIED it by HIS ANGEL unto his servant John” [Revelation 1:1] John was in the SPIRIT on the Lord’s day, joined to the Lord in TRUE WORSHIP and to the same FELLOWSHIP are we called, if we are TRUE WORSHIPPERS, not limiting our WORSHIP to a medley of songs in a parish hall, even as “… ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father…. But the HOUR COMETH, and NOW IS, when the TRUE WORSHIPPERS SHALL WORSHIP the FATHER in SPIRIT and in TRUTH: for the Father seeketh such to worship him” [John 4:21-24] To those who WORSHIP Him in SPIRIT and in TRUTH, the ANGEL OF THE LORD is ever so close, whether in prison as John or in the bedroom. The BOOK OF REVELATION overflow with angels and we can neither understand nor grasp the message until we discern the ANGEL OF THE LORD. The same was with Moses in the wilderness and testified to John, “Saying, I am ALPHA and OMEGA, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches in Asia …” [Revelation 1:11 & Acts 7:38] The ANGEL OF THE LORD is your GUIDE to the VISIONS and PROPHECIES in this BOOK; accept Him and you will be inducted to His TESTIMONY, “I JESUS have SENT MINE ANGEL to TESTIFY unto you these things IN THE CHURCHES …” [Revelation 22:16]
2. VERSES 12 – 16: John saw SEVEN GOLDEN CANDLESTICKS, “And in the midst of the SEVEN CANDLESTICKS one like unto the SON OF MAN …” [Revelation 1:13] The SON OF MAN, in the midst of SEVEN GOLDEN CANDLESTICKS, brings to mind the TABERNACLE in the wilderness and the ANGEL which led Israel to the Promised Land, as it is written: “Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, MINE ANGEL SHALL GO BEFORE THEE …” [Exodus 32:34] The same, the ANGEL OF THE LORD, appeared to John on Patmos, to GUIDE us through the LAST DAYS into His REST. John saw Him as the ANCIENT OF DAYS, “His HEAD and his HAIRS WERE WHITE LIKE WOOL, as white as snow; and his EYES WERE AS A FLAME OF FIRE” [Revelation 1:14] The SEVEN CANDLESTICKS pertain to the earthly TABERNACLE, not so the SEVEN STARS in His right hand, “… and out of his mouth went a SHARP TWOEDGED SWORD: and HIS COUNTENANCE WAS AS THE SUN shineth in his strength” [Revelation 1:16] STARS belong to heaven, and like the pillar of shiny CLOUD in the wilderness, lights up the path of the JUST. The “TWOEDGED SWORD” signify JUDGMENT, “… the GOODNESS and SEVERITY of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, GOODNESS, IF THOU CONTINUE IN HIS GOODNESS; OTHERWISE THOU ALSO SHALL BE CUT OFF” [Romans 11:22]
3. VERSES 17-18: Thus said the Lord to Moses: “… Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live” [Exodus 33:20] In another place, it is written: “And the LORD spake unto Moses FACE TO FACE, as a MAN SPEAKETH unto his FRIEND …” [Exodus 33:11] There is no confusion here, Moses and John saw the PRESENCE of the Lord in His ANGEL. If we stay TRUE to the Lord, we are His FRIENDS and His ANGEL is our COMPANION, “YE ARE MY FRIENDS, if ye do whatsoever I command you…. I HAVE CALLED YOU FRIENDS; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have MADE KNOWN UNTO YOU” [John 15:14-15] The ANGEL OF THE LORD is the invisible FRIEND who makes KNOWN the MYSTERIES and DEPTHS of God’s WISDOM to those who HUMBLE themselves at His feet. John fell at His feet, and He touched him, saying; “… FEAR NOT; I am the FIRST and the LAST” [Revelation 1:17] If we know Him and accept His FRIENDSHIP, we have no reason to FEAR what men or demons may do to us; He is ALIVE FOR EVERMORE, “… Amen; and have the KEYS of HELL and DEATH” [Revelation 1:18] The ANGEL OF THE LORD is with those who WORSHIP Him in SPIRIT and in TRUTH to GUIDE them through the LAST DAYS into His REST, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee” [Isaiah 43:2]
4. VERSES 19-20: The ANGEL OF THE LORD said to John: “WRITE the things which thou hast SEEN, and the things which ARE, and the things which shall be HEREAFTER” [Revelation 1:19] He also gave understanding to the VISION, beginning with the MYSTERY of the SEVEN GOLDEN CANDLESTICKS and the SEVEN STARS: “… The SEVEN STARS are the ANGELS of the SEVEN CHURCHES: and the SEVEN CANDLESTICKS which thou sawest are the SEVEN CHURCHES” [Revelation 1:20] RIGHT HAND signify POWER and the SEVEN STARS in His right hand represent the flow of His POWER working through the ministry of angels in the CHURCH. The SEVEN CANDLESTICKS indicate the CHURCH, which is many parts but ONE, even as the CANDLESTICKS are joined in one LAMPSTAND, “For by ONE SPIRIT are we all BAPTIZED INTO ONE BODY, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit” [1 Corinthians 12:13] Finally, if any man will WRITE or SPEAK of the VISIONS and PROPHECIES in this BOOK, let him do so by COMMANDMENT, having “… renounced the HIDDEN THINGS OF DISHONESTY, not walking in CRAFTINESS, nor handling the word of God DECEITFULLY; but by MANIFESTATION OF THE TRUTH commending ourselves to every man's CONSCIENCE in the sight of God” [2 Corinthians 4:2]
