“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint:” [Isaiah 40:31]
1. Strength is effective use of power.
The rise and fall of nations and civilizations is a power equation. The breath in your nostrils is driven by strength and when it fails you die. When a business loses strength it crashes. Failure of any sort is proof of little or no strength, as the Bible says: “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small” [Proverbs 24:10] This is the ultimate season of adversity as the world staggers from distress to confusion and; “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken” [Luke 21:26] The faithful and faithless are weary and faint in excruciating pains of a world tottering to disaster. Living and enduring faith is scarce and many fire-spitting bishops, pastors and disciples have gone and traded spiritual gifts for material gain. As we turn the last lap of time, those who trust in the Lord gasp for finishing strength to run and obtain the crown of glory. These are perilous times, let him that has ears listen to what the Spirit says: “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” [Hebrews 12:1]
2. Life is the race for eternity.
King Saul started well, got a new heart and; “…the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied…” [1 Samuel 10: 9-10] King Saul spoke in tongues but that was not enough to finish strong. When he was established, he rebelled against God and sought finishing strength from a witch, saying: “…Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her…” [1 Samuel 28:7] He lost his soul, kingdom and three sons, all in one day! [1 Samuel 31:6] The man in Christ was exhausted at the tail end of the race and said: “…Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done” [Luke 22:42] He stuck to divine purpose and an angel appeared to deliver finishing strength, as it is written: “And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him” [Luke 22:43] Finishing strength is God’s enablement to succeed in everything you do. Finishing strength is not the property of any denomination or sect and cannot be bought or transferred. Finishing strength comes from God to accomplish His purpose according to His vision
3. Run with purpose.
God has purpose for your life. God’s purpose is the mission He has for you, separate from secular chores or duties assigned by your pastor. It is your assigned place in the body of Christ, as it is written: “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ” [1 Peter 2:5] Finding and keeping your location in God’s “spiritual house” is the ticket to finishing strength. Those who run outside God-approved mission are disconnected from finishing strength. Each soul born of God is a “lively stone” hewn from the same Rock, i.e., Jesus Christ. Every “lively stone” is shaped to fit into God’s “spiritual house” as; “….apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers” [Ephesians 4:11] Whatever your office, the mission is to reflect and be a true witness of the prophetic revelations of Jesus Christ. In doing so, let us “offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God” in the manner of Jesus Christ; “…who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” [Hebrews 12:2]
4. Run in the vision.
God has a vision for man that runs from creation to eternity. God’s agenda was passed from age to age in prophetic revelations of Jesus Christ, who is the brightness of the glory of God and; “…the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power…” [Hebrews 1:3] Those who ran before the birth of Jesus did so according to the prophetic vision of Christ revealed in their days. This generation is the beneficiary of the fullness of God’s vision. The prophetic revelation of this age is the; “…Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” [Matthew 24:30] This is Present Truth and a sure word of prophecy [2 Peter 1:19] Beloved, it is not enough to run, we must run in full understanding of the present time and season. Let us run the race like the; “…children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do…” [1Chronicles 12:32] Let us run as men who know that the Lord will return “as a thief in the night” [1 Thessalonians 5:2]
5. Receive Finishing Strength.
This generation speaks in tongues, having; “…a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…” [2 Timothy 3:5] The Church celebrates numbers without power. This is the lukewarm Church that boasts, saying: “…I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked” [Revelation 3:17] The race has been long and we all need to be revived for the crucial last lap. The power of the Holy Ghost is the finishing strength that shall power the gospel; “…in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” [Matthew 24:14] Let the Church repent and return to the mission handed over to us and demonstrated in Acts of the Apostles. Let us run in the vision of Present Truth, turning away from crass materialism. When we have been purged, we shall be revived by the power of the Holy Ghost and the Lord; “…will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth” [Roman 9:28] Amen
